By Define Aesthetics, April 27, 2016

Did you just become a mother? With all the new responsibilities added in your kitty, there is no time to invest in yourself. It’s never too late to reclaim your body. At whatever age your child be, you can shed off those extra kilos and look as fabulous as you were before pregnancy.

Unlike the popular belief, weight loss after pregnancy is possible. The new moms want to put away those maternity clothes and get back to their old suits or jeans. The best way to approach the weight loss goals is to practice a healthy lifestyle or taking proper effective measures.

Let’s talk about the regular things that you can do at home.

As you take care of your baby, invest little time in yourself every day to take care of yourself.

  1. Wake up and move!

Well, exercises will never go off-record. Early morning when your baby is also asleep and there’s not much to do, make a daily work-out routine. Remember, you shouldn’t exercise at least 9-10 weeks of giving birth. Give it a little time. Let your baby be 3-4 months old and you can start with yourself all over again.

Wake up early in the morning and take a walk. Gradually you may start jogging. Invest 10-15 mins gradually increasing it to 30 mins.

  1. Cardio

post baby excercise

After sometimes you may start with cardio. It helps you to keep you physically active. 15-20 mins of cardio in a gap of 2 days or, 3-4 times a week is perfectly fine. You will also be able to increase stamina level of your body.

  1. Weight lifting

Weight lifting aids to great metabolism in a long way. You can hit the gym and get a personalised trainer to advise certain weight lifting workouts. Alternatively you can try a few tricks at home. You don’t even need to invest in dumbbells. Get hold of books and do lunges, or do lunges behind the stroller as you walk.

  1. Make a proper eating habit

One of the most important factor is your health. Many new moms avoid to eat at all in order to lose weight. Just to let you know, dieting after pregnancy is quite injurious to your health. Your body is already weak after delivering a baby. It needs proper nutrients to nourish and flourish. Hence, crash dieting is a big no when it comes to lose weight.

By saying that, we are not suggesting to eat anything and everything. We are just making sure you do a healthy weight loss.

Here’s a diet chart that you can follow:

Early Morning:

Keep 3-4 almonds soaked in water overnight. Almonds are rich source of healthy protein, calcium, iron and fibre. Drink a glass of milk. Remember to have it in room temperature. Alternatively you may do a little trick to make ‘chenna’. Just add 1 lemon squeezed in boiling milk. Keep stirring the milk. Once the chenna is formed, keep it in a plate and cool it before having it. Chenna is high in nutrients like phosphorous, calcium and energy. A complete healthy breakfast solution for you!

Mid-Morning:A beautiful slender girl eating healthy food

It’s always advisable to have food in smaller quantity but in regular gaps in a day. In that case we always wonder what to eat! There are a number of choices you can go for e.g. have a glass of juice e.g. fruit juice or vegetable juice. Carrot juice is believed to provide ultimate nutrition supplies at a go.

A few healthy munchies:

  • Fruit platter
  • Wheat or multigrain bread & butter
  • Boiled eggs
  • Yogurt

Lunch time:

Have a full platter of traditional lunch you like. Indulge in roti-sabzi, daal-rice, light fish or chicken curry with homemade fries.

Try switching to green tea. You may steal a low fat muffin, digestive biscuits or cereals etc. Keep some appetite for dinner.

Obviously you should be having a full platter of dinner. Try to keep the dinner light and have it maximum by 9pm. Opt for vegetable or chicken stew with low fat butter. Try to have roti over rice. You may also go for boiled vegetables or chicken salad or stir fired veggies in olive oil.

These are all about that you can try at home. Now, let’s have a look at the few factors that may not be favourable for trying these home remedies.

What are the problems you face?

  1. Having a proper diet chart. Now, all the women don’t have same metabolism or body type. In this case the weights also varies person to person. Each body type needs customized food chart. The minimum calorie intake should be a minimum of 1200/day.
  2. Some women are lactose intolerant or allergic to a few food variants. Especially after pregnancy you should keep a close watch to the food variants that you are allergic to. Commonly brinjal is one of them.
  3. Sometimes after pregnancy, you seemed to gain weight only in the particular body parts. Dieting or gym may not be useful to shed off fat from particular body parts. It works overall. In case you don’t want to lose your chubby cheeks, diet and gym is not going to help you at all. It affects the whole body. Many women seem to develop sagging skin due to gym or dieting.
  4. Time management. Well, once you have a baby it’s very important to manage your time wisely. Spending hours at gym becomes very difficult. At the same time, preparing and following food chart strictly becomes a headache as well.
  5. Lose muscles around the belly is a common occurrence and happens to stay for long especially if you had a caesarean baby. In this case none of the at home process could actually fetch you good results.
  6. Time consuming! Well you have to be extremely patient if you are losing weight through diet and gym. It may take strict attention for 6-7 months. Some women don’t get visible results even after a year of gym. Moreover, this routine needs your ‘daily attention’ to provide a visible result after 6-7 months. With a baby on board in your life, we assume this to be a hectic mission.
